Virtual Blue Ox Music Festival: Live From the Pines
Blue Ox Music Festival Is Going Virtual: June 12 – 13, 2020
Blue Ox Music Festival has always had a special place in our hearts. It was part of our 6-week festival run when we first kicked-off Festy GoNuts in 2016. We interviewed our first band – Leftover Salmon – at Blue Ox. And even though we haven’t been able to attend personally the past few years, we prioritized sending our good friends – Cami and Jason – to report back on their weekend at the Whispering Pines Campgrounds in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
Check out their great review of the 2019 Blue Ox Music Festival!
As with every other music festival this year, COVID-19 has forced Blue Ox to reschedule. Of course, we are being hopeful that we can all get together to dance in the pines this August. In the meantime, the amazing people who curate this family-friendly festival have decided to throw a Virtual Festival for us on their regularly scheduled dates.
Blue Ox Music Festival: Live From the Pines will be held virtually on June 12 – 13, 2020 from 1:00 PM to 10:30 PM CDT.
Festival fans will get to see live music played from the stage in Whispering Pines Campground, the home of Blue Ox Music Festival. Pert Near Sandstone, the festival host, is scheduled to play two sets onstage, along with festival favorites Charlie Parr, Lissie, and Them Coulee Boys.
In addition, Live From the Pines will also showcase sets from Sam Bush, Del McCoury, The Travelin’McCourys, Lillie Mae, and Molly Tuttle performing from their hometowns. The full schedule will be released soon, so stay tuned.
You can watch Blue Ox Music Festival: Live From the Pines on the Blue Ox Music Festival YouTube and Facebook
channels, or check it out on their partner’s pages (JamGrass TV, The Current, Bell’s Brewery, Northern Sun Productions).
Pert Near Sandstone Releases New Album
The Blue Ox Virtual Festival will coincide with the release of the festival hosts Pert Near Sandstone‘s album release. Rising Tide will debut on June 12, 2020, and the band is anxious to play their new tunes live from their stage in the Whispering Pines Campground.
The album will be available June 12th on Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music, Amazon, Google Play, Pandora, YouTube, and Deezer. The album is available for purchase on www.pertnearsandstone.com for digital download, CD and vinyl purchase.
The live broadcast is free to all viewers, yet contributions are encouraged and appreciated, with part of the proceeds
going to the performing artists, as well as benefiting the Cleghorn Lions Club, National T.T.T. Society, and the Chippewa
Valley Technical College Radiology Department – which are organizations that have graciously volunteered for Blue Ox
over the years; and the Feed My People Food Bank of Wisconsin.

As music lovers who are passionate about festivals, we are struggling to sort through all of the information out there regarding each festival we had hoped to attend. Not only do we need to consider the new dates, but there are also varying ticket exchange policies to navigate. We put together a guide to help you navigate the changes that are affecting music festivals due to COVID-19.
